RO pretreatment
Stable water that extends reverse osmosis membrane life.
A physical barrier against solids, turbidity, bacteria and viruses, with no added chemicals. Ideal as reverse osmosis pretreatment and for reusing treated wastewater.
Ultrafiltration uses membranes with pores of about 0.01 microns. Water passes; suspended solids, turbidity, bacteria and viruses stay behind. Unlike reverse osmosis, it lets salts through, so it runs at lower pressure and uses less energy.
That makes it reverse osmosis's best partner: it delivers very stable water that protects RO membranes, cuts cleanings and extends their life. It is also the backbone of many treated wastewater reuse projects.

Typical cycle of an ultrafiltration system.
Wherever you need clear, safe water, or to protect a downstream process.
Stable water that extends reverse osmosis membrane life.
Polishing treated wastewater so it can be used again.
Clear water free of microorganisms for plant utilities.
Handles variable turbidity without constant coagulant dosing.
Removes solids before recovering rinse water.
Side-stream filtration to control solids.

Same equipment, same engineering. Rental and pay per use require no upfront investment, subject to technical, financial and contractual evaluation.
One-time investment. You own the asset and can depreciate it.

See how it works →Ultrafiltration (≈0.01 µm) removes solids, turbidity, bacteria and viruses but lets salts through. Reverse osmosis (≈0.0001 µm) removes almost all dissolved salts. They are often combined: UF as pretreatment and RO to demineralize.
Not to filter: it is a physical barrier. Chemicals are only used for periodic membrane cleaning.
When feed water has variable turbidity or solids, or when you want fewer cleanings and longer reverse osmosis membrane life.
Yes. It is one of the most common stages to bring treated wastewater to reuse quality, alone or ahead of reverse osmosis.
